the biggest copywriting sin

Hello,

Here is the worst problem people make when writing
their copy - they don't "pay off the headline". In other
words, the opening paragraph doesn't expand on the
concept painted in the headline.

That immediate disconnect is a speed bump that usually
reduces readership. Only RARE instances should you
not pay off the headline in the opening paragraph.

Another sin: mistaking persuasion for convincing. You
should not have to convince anyone about anything on
your sales letter. That's called trying too hard. It makes
you look desperate. Instead of convincing (which usually
leads to fluffy, hypey copy) you make it easy for them
to understand the value of your offer.

Subtle but significant nuance there.

Another sin: not understanding how to 'weave a web of
excitement' in the tone of your copy. look at this piece
of copy:

"Are you sick of the itching, burning, pain, swelling,
or bleeding down there? Aren't you frustrated because it's
completely embarrassing to ask for advice on this potentially
crippling condition? I sure was - suffering silently. "

Question - does that sound like everyday conversation to you.
No. It sounds like adspeak. It's not exciting - it's blatant
pitching. Result - the copy causes you to lose a lot of money.

The solution: join me tomorrow at 6:30 pm central time to learn
some advanced conversion tactics, such as "weaving a
web of excitement" in your copy and the most powerful ways
to pay off headlines, and the key disinctions between convincing
copy and persuading copy (you'll thank me for this one).

We will be doing this live on a webinar, so you'll want to be there
to ask questions and participate in all the fun.
